World Tree, Yggdrasil

     I love this picture! It shows Van Gogh's painting Starry Night, sunny/storming weather and the world tree Yggdrasil. I like how it incorporates the different elements to form a cohesive whole.

I am on a vacation to Scotland, this is during a tour. We stopped at a roadside exhibit of the Saltire Falconry Center. They had many raptors there.

My first harvest.

Romaine lettuce. Only 2 survived, oddly they got about 2 1/2 ft tall and flowered, but didn't fill out.

Trimmings from tall bushes in side yard. They were being choked out by vines.

Larger plants are cucumber, the middle plant is a squash. The cucumbers survived, the squash died from dry lichen spores. Multiple cucumbers have started, only two are big enough to pic so far. They first was killed in the first frost as well as the plant (on the end).

Beautiful male rainbow scarab beetle that I found wandering my yard. A couple weeks later I saw a female too.

My sons Bearded Dragons. Mom Ruby is in the dirt, dad Grey Beard on the bottom of the pile, brother, baby Lucyfer (girl).

Continuation of raised bed, layered compost in-place potting, gardening, top soil, kitchen waste and manure. Bonnie Hybrid Cabbage and small lettuce plant. White in top corner is crushed eggshells.

Heirloom Yellow Squash, 2 in each container with marigolds in between, homemade trellis behind.

Re-purposed chest to a raised bed with containers scattered around. Tomatoes, asparagus, broccoli, onions, green onions, leeks, carrots, parsley, marigold, avocado tree, lemon tree.

Asparagus, 3 containers, 6 plants each (24).

Lemon tree bought at Fruitmania.

Shelves from last years green house, the plastic cover was killed by an ice storm in February. This will be used for containers and starting plants.

Container dwarf tomato, rooted sucker in small pot in back corner. The white is crushed egg shells for added calcium and to detract slugs.

Sandbox after lettuce harvest, basil and borage transplant.

Dead or dying yellow squash, vine borers killed them. Removed them from the containers and built a raised bed.
