Working

10/29/2013

I am working on a variety of projects for Etsy and to bring to the Mace convention in NC, next month. I have been painting figures and designing numerous other objects for both venues listed above.
I will post pictures when finished.
I am also clearing space for another raised bed by chopping down another azalea bush that is overrunning its bed. I have found an annoying ivy like vine that has killer thorns as a defense, on numerous bushes. They leave a wicked wound. I thought it looked  nice, until it bit me.

My Etsy store is now online. I have posted a few figures and more are on the way. There are both vintage Ral Partha and Reaper figures. They are all custom painted by me and most have the bases flocked.
I am constantly learning new styles of painting and getting better over time. In the future I will be posting figures that haven't been painted yet that buyers can get custom paint jobs. Below is an example of one of my products.
See my store tab for the figures currently for sale.
More to come.

Grow Your Own Groceries Webinar

I'm watching a webinar by Marjory Wildcraft, she is talking about growing your own crops. She says to start small and then work up.

I just wish that the sound was better, her voice was a bit garbled. She talked about a book from the 70s, that is still in use today. 12 beds for food crops, 28 beds for compost crops, using a 40 bed 100' square garden.

Plant Giveaway

Today we went to West Ashley because someone on Freecyle was giving away plants from her yard that she had too much of. I helped dig up: elephant ferns and canna lilies, liriope, and a few other types.

When I got home I was able to transplant most of them except the liriope and mondo grass. While preparing an area for the ferns, I found some bricks under the surface near the fence. I used it to fence off the canna lilies in a back corner of the yard.

While digging holes for the canna lilies, I was startled by a loud buzzing in front of me. I thought that it was a bee, but when I looked it was a female rainbow scarab beetle, I tried to get a picture but it flew away first. Too bad, I have one of the male that I saw last month, hopefully they'll breed in my yard.

I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Yesterday my husband Shane and I went to dinner at a friends house in Moncks Corner, SC. There were 4 other couples, us and the host couple there.

The soup was good, there was also bread, our hummus/chips and brownies. We ate way too much, after eating we socialized around the fire pit in the backyard. Below is a Sentinal plant.

Goose Creek Fall Festival

This morning I went to the Fall Festival by the lake behind city hall. It was quite popular. They created overflow parking for the large turnout on the expansive grassy area.

Many booths were set up with services, stores, info, food, etc. there were games, raffles, horses, a climbing wall, music from a DJ, dancing and more.

I wish I could have convinced my son Talen to come. I got a massage at the chiropractor booth too. I ate candy and got some Lumpia on the way out.

I was adding my paints, figures and other supplies to my new inventory program "nest egg." It's nice, I just wish it would recognize the barcode a instead of me having to manually input everything.

Today was paint might at the Green Dragon in North Charleston, SC. I finished my rainbow harpy, the base on a mage and the base coat on a beholder kin beast. I'll post pics on Pinterest tomorrow.

John Solomon Fullmer: The Man and His Writings
--Compiled by Jerry D Wells

This is an excerpt from the above book, I received this from my mother Susan. John S Fullmer is a direct ancestor of my maternal line.

--compiled by Iona Jarvis Belka (copied from a typescript she published for the Peter Fullmer family in Aug 1957)

The story of the life of John Solomon Fullmer is most interesting. His was life spent in devotion to his religious beliefs and he never faltered in his faith. He possessed a great dignity and a great pride in doing everything as nearly perfect as possible.

He came from a good, religious family whose means of livelihood for many years was that of farming. He spent his youth and early manhood on his father's farm in Pennsylvania.

His ancestors were among the very early settlers of Pennsylvania, those of the Fullmer family coming from Germany on board the ship "Friendship" in 1738. Those of the Zerfass family also came from Germany; arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Glasgow, 9 Sep 1738, just eleven days prior to the Vollmars' arrival on the Friendship, 20 Sep 1738. Facsimiles of the passenger lists of these ships are reproduced in Pennsylvania German Pioneers, pages 216 and 234.

John Solomon Fullmer was born in Huntington, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, Jul 21st 1807, a son of Peter and Susanna Zerfass Fullmer. He was their third child and one of seven children. He had two brothers and four sisters.

He received what was considered an “average” education. In those days and education considered as “liberal” would be to us but a grade school education. However, John S possessed a driving ambition to better himself in every way and he never ceased to study and improve himself. He acquired a knowledge of law by taking a correspondence course while working at a newspaper office in Nashville, Tennessee, and, although he never practiced as a lawyer professionally, this knowledge served him greatly throughout life.

I met some like minded people at the North Charleston Wild Wings Cafe. We all are interested in doing crafts of a variety of types.

Afterwards, I met Shane my husband at the Green Dragon. He is role playing in the game room. I painted figures while he was roleplaying. I worked on a fiendish harpy and swamp troll from the Reaper Bones set of plastic figures. I'll post the pictures on my Pinterest page.

I have always loved nature. When I was younger in a small town in NE Washington. In the summer or anytime that I felt like it, I was always hiking up and down the hills along the Coulee Wall (canyon).
I miss home at times even now. I was always going camping, fishing or off to summer camp.
