Thanksgiving

11/28/2013

Today is one of a few Thanksgivings that I've been able to be home because I've been contracting overseas. That is one big thing to be thankful for, that I'm home at this time. I am currently looking for steady work as well as working on my projects to sell on my Etsy store. It is all a work in progress.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this.

M.A.C.E. Convention

We went to a role playing convention in Charlotte, NC; it lasted from Friday-Sunday. Almost 700 people attended the event at the Hilton Hotel.

It was a cold and blustery weekend, but we had a good time. I played in multiple games of Savage Worlds in multiple campaign settings. As well as multiple panels, in between gaming and panels; I walked around visiting people and shopping. I bought a few things and  painted miniatures.

Friday

6pm Writing in the RPG Industry (great)

7 pm Miniature Painting Workshop.

8 pm Battle for Oz (SW), it was a great game and fun. I just wish that it hadn't lasted until midnight.

Saturday

9 am Winter Break (SW), I played a variation of Sarah Connor (terminator)

11 am World Building (great), the panel members like the concept for my world

130 pm Mark of Murder (SW), interesting game. It was like criminal minds, I played an investigative reporter that was helping the cops and FBI.

6 pm Charity Auction. Everything was sold, I picked up a folding, rolling crate--I love it.

Sunday

9 am Shaintar Justice and Life (SW), great game. I played a goblin rogue and was able to keep it for the Living campaign. The pictures below are from this game.

Canning Day

I am working on my 1st canning experiment with 3 acorn squash in 4 pint jars. I probably should have done something simpler to start with, but had some squash that needed to be used. I had to search for the directions to can it at 15 psi though, because the instructions in the Home Preserving manual (came with my Fugor Duo pressure canner) said to can it at 10 psi, my pressure canner only has a Hi (15 psi) and Lo (8 psi) setting.
Thankfully I found some instructions on someone else's blog where they used 15 psi for 55 minutes and it turned out fine. Currently, I have 20 minutes left and then will test the seals.
After depressurizing and letting everything cool off, I found out that 1/2 the fluid in each jar had leaked out. and one of the jars didn't seal. Thankfully the manual said that everything was fine, except for the one that didn't seal. That one went in the fridge and will be used soon. Overall, not a bad experience.

Pagan Unity Day 2013

After eating breakfast and watering my plants I headed to the Armory in Charleston, SC for Pagan Unity Day.
I arrived just in time for the opening circle. Afterwards, I walked around the booths, bought some items, talked with a lady for a while before attending my first class.

The workshop is called "Eco-Friendly Magick" by Deanna Anderson. Rainwater jar for rituals: mason jar, nylon and a rubber band or string; put in fridge/pantry until needed. She talk about nature spirits called "kashas". From the Earth we get, to the earth we give. She's writing "witches for the wild witch" book. I ate lunch afterwards.
The second workshop was "crystal therapy 101" by Rick Huffman.
Third was "30 best pagan albums", during the class I went through some gardening magazines to decide which ones to take home.
Everyone was packing up when the class finished. When had the finishing ritual and then headed home.

I have always loved nature. When I was younger in a small town in NE Washington. In the summer or anytime that I felt like it, I was always hiking up and down the hills along the Coulee Wall (canyon).
I miss home at times even now. I was always going camping, fishing or off to summer camp.
